Coach Peter Robinson
Peter was born and raised in Mission Viejo, California. Growing up playing baseball and golf, Peter had little experience with swimming until high school. There, he would fail to make both the baseball and golf teams and proceed to sign up for swimming because there were no cuts.
What started as a spur of the moment decision turned into an eight-year career. At Tesoro High school, Peter achieved his varsity letter in just two years. He also joined the local Coto Coyotes, a small club team (like ATAC!). Four years with these teams was enough for Peter to be able to swim Division III in college.
A recent December 2018 graduate of Southwestern University, Peter steadily progressed year to year, earning the team’s “Most Improved” in 2017 and “MVP” in 2018. This is partly thanks to Austin Trinity, who provided Peter a home to swim at in the off-season. His senior year (2019), Peter lead his fellow Pirates to the program’s first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men’s championship, beating out long-reigning Trinity University. There, he defended his title in the 200 Yard Freestyle, and placed second in the 200 Yard Backstroke and third in the 500 Free, all new school records. He also anchored all five gold medal-winning relays.
Peter is currently applying for various Graduate Assistant positions across the country to pursue a Master’s of Sports Management next year and hopes to coach at the collegiate level. He is very excited to be coaching at ATAC with all the wonderful families he has come to know the past 2 years!
